Action Cover Party was created and developed for the first time in Santa Cruz de Tenerife in 2009 by “El Apartamento” collective. This activity pretends to create an environment of participation. It is an open call to recreate famous performances particularly from the 60’s and the 70’s.
Covering performances instead of songs is a diferent approach to art history and a recreational learning excersice. You can do it for the pleasure of experiencing what it was like in those days (we have little documentation about many of the early performances), to make a tribute to the artist or just to enjoy yourself.
Nowadays some of the members from “El Apartamento” are living in other cities and countries, and we’re creating cells, spreading some of our points of understanding about contemporary art, and creating bridges between other local scenes in different points of the world. Action Cover Party has arrived to Manchester and everybody can take part. Just choose your favorite action and make it yours.
